Mediterranean calm in Madrid | A 120 m² terrace in the Almagro neighbourhood
At 120 m², our first impression of the space was that it felt open, vast and impersonal. We started by studying how natural light moves across the terrace from sunrise to sunset, and how that changes through the seasons. Reading the light this way was key to laying out the furniture — and especially the planting — to support wellbeing at every moment of the day.
Along the way, a few words became our compass. We wanted this space to invite you to walk barefoot, read in the sun, share a laugh with friends, and enjoy a good glass of wine. Drawing on the calm and the spirit of Menorca, these ideas wove together into the project's guiding concept:
«Un paseo por el Mediterráneo»
The goal was to create a natural refuge where every corner invites a small, everyday ritual of pleasure.
Choosing the planting was crucial: we selected Mediterranean species like olive, lavender, rosemary and thyme — plants that bring beauty and fragrance, but are also hardy and easy to maintain.
We chose the lighting fixtures in the same tone as the corten steel, creating a sense of visual continuity.
The furniture, in keeping with the concept, along with an outdoor shower finished in porcelain tile and rust-toned fittings, complete the experience inviting you to unwind.
In this way, the terrace becomes a space where the essence of the Mediterranean merges with city life, offering everyday moments of serenity and connection.
